Ever Notice?

Ever notice how one single, seemingly small event can completely change your life, and how you view it? Even the "possibility" of an event can send you into re-thinking your life? We seem to take so much for granted, and get into a routine with how things are. But then, boom, something happens and suddenly we are plunged into stress, planning, re-planning, and more stress.

I usually don't stress over too much. Live and let live is pretty much how I go through life. I give advice, try to help when needed, and mind my own business. I don't divulge information that nobody needs to know, much less if they don't care.

I guess I was just thinking about how sometimes things can totally change everything.

A 30 minute exerp...

yep, that's what you get, in picture form, is an exerp from my life. Let me explain...many people ask me "You have no job, kids don't live with you, what do you DO all day?" Its true, I have no job, the DH is a truck driver and is gone all the time, sometimes 3 weeks or more (but that is rare). No, my children don't live here, and I live way out in the country with my dogs. So, what do I do all day??? HHmmm, depends on the day. Winter sucks, as it is so damn cold I don't go outside. Most times I sit on my ass, doing just about nothing...lol. But I do keep the house clean, and play with the 2 dogs that are inside. If its above freezing I'll take them and the outside dogs on a long walk (although that only takes 2 hours for both sets, lol).

So on days like today, when the temp guage reads 3 degrees, and the windchill has it at -11, I get to watch the following take place:

So there it is...all in 30 minutes, these two kids wrestled, growled, thumped, and ran around. Then, they decided "oh, mom is standing up with the camera, lets check it out and pose for her" which resulted in this:

And although these next ones weren't taken today, this is how it usually ends up:

There ya go...a brief photo synopsis of a fraction of my day. I don't quell the running through the house, or the play-barking that goes with this, as they are cooped up in the house all day. They need to get that energy out!! And Ben, the Mastiff, is suprisingly agile for his size, and he has figured out how to get the best of Max...lol, quite entertaining.

Its DONE!!

Finally, I have finished my very first quilt! WOOHOO! Ok, I know, it may not be a huge accomplishment compared to other things, but for me, its awsome. I have started and completed a project, I did it with NO help, and I can actuall USE it! Granted, hand-sewing a quilt is a TON of work, but I enjoyed it. I would sit in my big chair, watching tv in the evenings and sew away. Very relaxing, and the whole project made me think, and use my brain...lol...no laughing on that one! So, here are the pics of the finished project!

Hair...AGAIN

I got my hair re-done yesterday....gawd it needed cut! Funny how a short haircut will make you notice the growth so much more than long hair. Anyway, I had it cut shorter, and left a bit in front long, then had it re-colored darker. As you can see, the red still shows a bit, but not nearly as bright as it was. I like this much better than before. Not only the style, but the shortness, and the color. Contrary to popular belief, short styles like this one are more maitenance than long hair...unless you are Jayne and its so short its easy! (luv ya girl! lol) Anyway, enjoy, and as always, your feedback is welcome!

Busy Weekend

It was a busy weekend for my family. My sister-in-law had her baby. She was supposed to have him on the 27th, but he was being stubborn. So on Friday morning she went in to be induced. And at 3:37pm Cody was born!! He was 9lbs, 5oz, and 21 1/4 inches long. And the blackest hair I've ever seen! So on Saturday we went to the hospital to see him, and we also did some shopping. We followed that up with a nice supper out. Sunday was kinda lazy, but we did go to their house in the afternoon and visit before hubby had to hit the road for the week. So here are a couple of pictures...hubby with baby, me with baby, and well, just baby!! Enjoy the cute factor!

My Quilt

Ok, for those of you who have been following along, I made a new year resolution to learn how to quilt. So far, its going pretty well. I have learned that once you get the proper tools, things can be easier, and measurements more accurate. Now, I have watched a program on PBS about women who learned how to make quilts from their ancesters who were freed slaves, or women who made them when they had nothing but old clothes to make them with. They simply ripped the material, and made do with it. Nothing technical, but the patterns and art were great. So, although my squares in the beginning weren't perfect, They became better as I went along once I aquired a cutting wheel and mat.
Anyway, here is how much I've done so far:

I plan on putting an outer edge on it this week, then the batting, and finally the back. So, as soon as I get that accomplished, I'll post the final product here!
